Activity 1 (Day 1): Health Science Simulation

Instructional Procedures

  1. Prior to this activity, use the Health Science Simulation Station Materials List to set up the stations around the classroom.
    • Station 1: Surgical Hand Washing
    • Station 2: Applying and Removing Surgical Gloves
    • Station 3: Applying a Finger Splint
    • Station 4: Taking Vital Signs
    • Station 5: Human Skeleton Bone Identification
  2. Model the tasks at each station for the class.
  3. Divide the class into five small groups and explain that groups will rotate through the stations, spending eight minutes to complete the tasks at each station.
  4. After completing all stations, regroup and discuss students’ experiences with the tasks.
    • Which tasks were easy to perform?
    • Which tasks were difficult to perform?
    • Have you seen these tasks performed before? If so, where and why?
